Join Targeting a Dream (TAD) for the 5K Run for Pride on Sunday June 8, 2008, to benefit the Just A TAD Scholarship Fund. Come out and run or walk to support future leaders of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community (rain or shine). The Just A TAD Scholarship Fund provides three $1000 scholarships to student leaders who are members or allies of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community.

No Secret Anymore
In celebration of Pride Month in June, Friends of the Library, Montgomery County, will sponsor Out at the Library, a new series to promote the work of gay and lesbian writers, filmmakers, journalists and publishers.
On June 25th at 7:00 PM at the AFI Silver Theatre Joan E. Biren will present her documentary No Secret Anymore: The Times of Del Martin and Phyllis Lyon based on the lives of the two founders of the modern lesbian civil rights movement.
Out at the Library is funded by the Farinhold-Edlow Endowment established in 1998 to promote gay and lesbian literature and library resources.

DC Crystal Meth Working Group Meeting Tuesday June 3rd
The DC Crystal Meth Working Group generally meets the first Tuesday of every month at The DC Center. The next meeting will be Tuesday, June 3rd at 7:00 PM at The Center (1111 14th Street NW Suite 350).
The D.C. Crystal Meth Working Group consists of individual members of the local community dedicated to education and treatement advocacy around methamphetamine. Please join us!
Rachel Sage and Mara Levi in Concert June 4th
The Washington Jewish Musical Festival hosts a performance on Wednesday June 4th featuring two GLBT artists. Rachel Sage will take center stage at the DC9 Nightclub and local favorite Mara Levi will open the night.
Talented East Village pianist, singer, songwriter and poet, Rachel Sage has been been described by The Village Voice as “earthiness, color and emotion.” She is known for her vibrant performances that blend vaudevillian kitsch with classically tinged art-pop. She has shared stages with Sarah McLachlan, Ani DiFranco and others.
Mara Levi is a smart pop musician who specializes in transcending musical genres and building live multi-layered loops to accompany her songs. Her music is catchy and intelligent, and mixes bluegrass, hip-hop, folk, pop, and jazz. Mara has been touring nationally for six years, and has had great success with her CD, What Are You? which features songs like The Homo Song, and Angelina.

Capital Champions Event
Stonewall Democrats, the national voice of LGBT Democrats, will hold their tenth annual Capitol Champions event on Tuesday May 27th. The special cocktail event takes place at the K Street Lounge, 1301 K Street NW, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
Capitol Champions recognizes the work of advocates on behalf of GLBT equality. Honorees include include Don Fowler, the former Chair of the Democratic National Committee; Carol Fowler, Chair of the South Carolina Democratic Party; and John Wilhelm, an innovative union leader leading nearly a million members.
The ticket price ($125 for individuals; $50 for students/interns) will support the important work of The Stonewall Democrats. For more information about this event, click here.
Workplace Equality Event This Thursday
What does the District of Columbia do to support equality in the workplace? How does the District address employment discrimination? Please join us on May 15th for a presentation and discussion on workplace equality in the District of Columbia starting at 7:00 PM at The DC Center, 1111 14th Street NW, Suite 350.
Our presenters are Gustavo Velasquez from the DC Office of Human Rights and Christopher Dyer from the DC Office of GLBT Affairs. Sponsored by The DC Center in partnership with the Office of LGBT Affairs and the Office of Human Rights. Co-sponsors include the DC Coalition, the Gertrude Stein Democratic Club, and the Gay and Lesbian Activists Alliance.
The event is part of the 2nd National Day of Action for Workplace Equality, sponsored by Lambda Legal. It is focused on, but not limited to, ending workplace discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity & expression, and HIV status. Everyone is welcome to participate.

DCCMWG: Tweakers Screening
The film Tweakers had it's DC premiere at E Street Theater on Thursday May 8th. The DC Crystal Meth Working Group sponsored the screening of the film.
The film was followed by a panel discussion featuring film Director Jimmy Palmieri and included two men who spoke candidly about their experience as recovering crystal meth addicts. Thanks to everyone who helped make this event a success. You can see pictures from the screening here.
